R Rice Hotel
|
The Rice Hotel, 909 Texas Avenue, Houston, was named after William Marsh Rice, who had left his fortune to found what is now Rice University. The hotel was built in 1913 on the site of the former capitol building for the Republic of Texas to designs by St. Louis architects Mauran, Russell and Crowell. In 1998 the abandoned hotel was renovated as the Rice Lofts, an apartment building.
