Treasury Seal
|
The Supervising Architects office at the United States Treasury designed and/or built most Federal buildings in the United States between 1850 and 1940. Some buildings featured the Treasury Department seal on doorknobs. This knob used in the Courthouses and Post Offices in Albany, NY (1883) and Chicago, IL (1880). See Antique Builders' Hardware, page 116 for additional information on Hopkins & Dickinson.
