Design patent # D4,098, June 7, 1870 by Ludwig Kruezinger. Originally manufactured by Metallic Compression Casting Company of Boston, and later by Russell & Erwin Manufacturing of New Britain. Featured in the 1875 R&E catalog. 2 inch plus diameter for $8 a pair. Many feel that no finer knob has been made. Marked Pat. June 7, 1870 on stem and MADE BY RUSSELL AND ERWIN MFG. CO. on rear. Plate Shown with this knob in the 1870 Russell & Erwin catalog. There is difference in construction of the two examples
