Majestic Building |
Majestic Building, 47 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN. The Majestic Building was the first steel framed high-rise in Indiana. In 1895 the Indiana Gas Company commissioned Oscar Bohlen of D.A. Bohlen & Son to design this 10-story building to serve as their new business headquarters. The exterior design for the Majestic uses the strength of the Romanesque Revival style. The large entrance arches are intricately decorated with foliate and acanthus carving and the three massive arches in the upper stories give the building its monumental character.
