Pearsons Hall of Science, Beloit College, Beloit WI. Dr. D. K. Pearsons of Chicago donated $60,000 for construction of a science building. Architects Burnham & Root of Chicago were contracted to design the building, with Burnham completing the design in the Romanesque style after Root died. The college's on-line archives contain (a) correspondence between the Chicago Hardware Manufacturing Company, architect Burnham, and the college president concerning Chicago Hardware designing a PHS monogram for the doorknobs, and (b) an early photograph of a science lab showing the monogram hardware.
