Design patent #D11,191, May 13, 1879 by H. E. Russell, Jr. assigned to Russell & Erwin. Parasol is concave producing a remarkable effect. The diameter is 2 3/8 inches. The first of the four "Japanese style" knobs patented on that date. Russell & Erwin produced several fine pieces of hardware in this style as shown in The Doorknob Collector # 120 and the 1883 Russell & Erwin catalog. However, by 1885 only one or two designs were left in the catalog.
